Nepali Music Industry

 (Some General Facts)

Over the past few years, Nepali Music industry has gone to a different level analyzing from artists, company to the general audience itself. Going few years back, music scene in Nepal was like a small pond with very few chosen fish inside. And, that small pond is growing more and more and turning into a river where everyday new genre of fish can be seen competing for their survival. Here, pond is the music industry and fish is referred to as artists and bands today. With lot more variation in musical forms and categories, music scenario of Nepal is quite satisfactory today in one aspect. At almost every 3,4th house, a child is growing as a musician, leading more and more music companies to get established. As more and more artists or bands are emerging rapidly in this scene, music companies are earning well.

Now getting down to the topic, Nepali music industry is or has always been blamed for its monopolistic views on musical genre. As collecting personal views and thoughts about Nepali music industry is something like this;

·         “Nepali Music Industry is going through monopoly of Video quality and Hindi music support for me.. If we can challenge this phase of Nepali Music Industry then we can certainly get something for its promotion. Nepali Music Industry has very quality artists but Nepali Music Industry cannot use them for the benefits of the Nation...”

·         In my view, Nepali Music has been shit in the name of commercialization. How’s that?! It doesn't matter for me what other think about it!!”

·         “I have not been through Nepali music scene, often times .only But Nepali music seen have a load of great musician Underground seen and commercials are unwanted….”

·         “Music Industries are only promoting Lok Dohori” as answered by some youths and rock bands are not getting their right place.

"As Nepali music scene is more into commercialization, it is often blamed for making glamorous videos with featured pop star and guess what, the video hits the chart. This filthy trend is being followed by almost every upcoming talent and it has been a door way to enter the music industry."

So, it’s either the western influences or Bollywood hot & spicy item songs that is ruining Nepali music Industry. It also might be an artists crazy dream that is leading to a corrupted media or it is 'Nepali music scenario itself to be blamed for'.
